Jian Jian is an independent photography magazine dedicated to black and white photography, built around the idea of 兼. This Chinese character represents duality, not as multitasking, but as a seamless blending of vision and thought.
Jian Jian Issue 06 Au-delà
Au-delà explores the fragile architecture that connects memory, identity, and place. In this series, the structure of the self is reflected in the structure of the city. Childhood memories and unrealised futures sit in concrete forms, neglected and suspended in time, where nostalgia struggles to find space and permanence dissolves into a quieter form of hope.
The work moves between city and suburb, revealing two lived realities that cannot exist without each other. These photographs exist in tension. Between preservation and decay. Between the illuminated centre and the eroded edges. They focus on the places where life continues quietly, without spectacle or announcement.
Fragments of parallel lives emerge and overlap, dissolving boundaries between what is remembered, what is imagined, and what still persists.
