These Images are are all portraits of individuals currently living in Northampton.
The Portraits were made from a temporary studio set up in the entrance of Livia’ house in Abington Avenue.
Each Saturday between 12-2 passersby were invited in for a brief photo session and short questionnaire about their lives in Northampton. Creating this simple cross section of society in the artists doorway, in the transitional space between private and public providing neautrality for this simple census of image and words.

Jian Jian — Issue 09: This life, Again and Again
In life, the good and the bad always coexist. No border, no city, no country can change that.
Some places promise more light, some hide the shadows better, but the weight always finds a way to return.
We move through days carrying things no one else can see—quiet disappointments, small hopes,
dreams that feel too big for the rooms we live in.
Sometimes the world feels tight around the chest, as if comfort is always one step farther than where we currently stand.
So we begin to ask the same question again and again:
Do we surrender to what life gives us, or do we leave and search for a gentler place to breathe?
These photographs are taken in that space between staying and leaving—a fragile moment where
someone realises that a small step toward leaving is sometimes more honest than staying.
