A Zine Celebrating The Moshpit’s And Chaos Of Northampton’s Music Scene Post Covid

Energy is infectious. Whether you walk into a venue by yourself, or with a couple of friends, seeing the energy of others bounce around draws you in. It’s easy to get lost in it all, one minute you’re jumping up and down, covered in sweat, arms around the shoulders of everyone around you; the next you’re leaving the venue with your T-shirt stuck to your body, your hair fucked, your shoes battered and no voice. It’s all a memory, except to those who captured it. Freezing the franticness in time. Preserving the memories, the smells and sounds of the venue within the frame, for anyone who attended to regain the senses of, or for anyone who didn’t, to glimpse at and wonder ‘what was it like?’. - Alex Potton

A5 Zine

A Zine Featuring Experimental Work Made During Lockdown Utilising Video Calls And Digital Artifacts To Explore The Rift Caused By Technology That Seemingly Brings Us Together During Times We Have To Be Apart

In ‘Angels & Ghosts’, Joe Westley focuses on obscure forms seen over Zoom communication. The hazy neon obscurity of each image is something of a fragmented reality, which seems foreign yet strangely familiar owing to this pixelated world becoming more apparent in our lives, which are ever-more dependent on digital communication. The webcam has been an ever-growing & vital part of communication over the years; in Angels & Ghosts, these images show the glitters of details of a live music performance[Live Art Event - No Jobs In The Arts Fringe Festival] experienced online. Joe’s perspective in the project leaves you in wonder whilst being perplexed on how these digital representations of human forms and pixels have become objects of great presence.
